Football for Life continued their impressive preseason form, locking in their third consecutive victory with a dominant 4-1 win over Wirral MvF Social. A brace apiece from their clinical striking duo proved to be the difference as the team gathers serious momentum ahead of the new campaign.

The match ignited just five minutes in. Jake Mellor unlocked the Wirral defense with a perfectly weighted through ball, allowing Adam Pace to calmly slot home the opener. Football for Life maintained their high-intensity press, and just six minutes later, Ste Lovelady was brought down in the box. Pace stepped up to the penalty spot, coolly converting his second of the match to double the lead.

The onslaught continued into the 19th minute. Neil Russell turned provider, sliding a brilliant pass through to Mark Prankerd, who finished with composure to make it 3-0.

Following the frantic opening 20 minutes, Wirral MvF Social began to find their structure. They tightened up defensively, slowing down Football for Life's rhythm and turning the match into a much closer, tactical affair for the remainder of the first half and early second.

However, Football for Life’s quality shone through again in the 68th minute. Prankerd finished of the moment of the match, after Jake Mellor embarking on a sublime, Messi-like individual run through the Wirral defense before teeing up Prankerd and burying his second goal of the day.

Wirral refused to lie down and fought back, deservedly reducing the deficit to three in the 74th minute when Simon Read found the back of the net.

Ultimately, it was another top-tier performance from the lads, who look sharper with every passing week as the new season approaches.
