Football for Life CIC are delighted to announce that a formal strategic partnership has been formed with MIND as our core mental wellbeing partner.
As part of this partnership, the employees of the North East Wales MIND centre based out of Mold will be attending FFL sessions and providing physical and digital resources to assist members through times of difficulty.
According to the UK Government’s official Men’s Health Strategy for England summary, men — particularly younger and middle-aged men under about 45 — are significantly under-represented in formal mental health support because they are much less likely to seek help than women and services are not sufficiently tailored to their needs; societal norms around masculinity, stigma about expressing emotions, and structural barriers contribute to men under-engaging with services despite high rates of harmful outcomes such as suicide, which is a leading cause of death in men under 50. The government’s evidence highlights that men’s help-seeking behaviour is shaped by expectations about gender-appropriate behaviour, shame, and fear of being judged, and that mental health services often lack the engagement strategies that resonate with men, resulting in disparities in access and uptake of mental health care.
This partnership will help to remove these barriers and offer our members the platform to seek support when it is needed the most.
On behalf of the club, I'd like to say welcome, and we look forward to working closely with you!
